    Buffalo Springfield, 1967

Playing a bit of “For What it’s Worth” and then “Mr. Soul”. This is awesome. Everything about it…the Spaghetti Western outfits blended with 60’s psychedelia…Neil’s fabulous chops and mop top, Stills giant cowboy hat, the bass player with his back to us and in the foreground…the cheesy show and host calling them “The” Buffalo Springfield,” the little soft teaser of “For What It’s Worth” that seems like it fits the show and probably the audience, and then the explosive turn into Mr. Soul. You can actually feel the acid kick in and change everything. it was really that simple. Infuse some great musicians with mind bending drugs, add electricity and turn up the volume, and this is what you get. And we’re still riding that wave to some extent. Most good Rock music still has one foot back in 1967.
